I find it amazing how the creatures of this Earth (speaking of honey bees here) can make some beautiful creations such as the honeycomb. I am taken back each time I think about the many
wonderful uses of the beeswax that is produced in these combs. Beeswax comes from the female bees and the honeycomb and can be used for a variety of things including crafts.
Often times when we think of beeswax we think of candles. These candles are a healthy alternative to traditional paraffin candles for relaxation, enjoyment and stress relief. Due to the fact that you can buy beeswax in sheets you can make your own rolled beeswax candles right at home. There will be no need for hot wax and could be a fun relaxing project to enjoy while making and benefit from the healthy burning of the candle after. These candles are naturally scented, purify the air, drip less, and burn evenly.
4 STEPS TO THE PERFECT ROLLED BEESWAX CANDLE
What You Need: Beeswax Sheets, Primed Wax, Sharp Knife, Cutting Surface
You will want to make sure the sheet of beeswax is pliable and soft. A sheet that is too cool could break easily while rolling. Simply adding a small amount of heat with a hair dryer or small pot of water will heat it up just fine. Once the sheet is warm simply roll it out on a flat surface.
Cut your wick about ¾ of an inch to 1 inch longer that the beeswax sheet. Next, Lay the wick straight along one edge of the sheet of beeswax and secure it by folding the beeswax over about an inch and seal it with some pressure.
Next, softly roll the sheet of wax slowly to ensure an even shape throughout the candle.
Once it is all rolled out simply trim the wick and enjoy your new candle. If you would like a thicker candle simply add another sheet of beeswax.
This would be a great project for you to do alone to relax or let the kids get in on the fun!
